A partnership that sets standards
Our collaboration on the construction of the new Hermes logistics center in Iłowa is an impressive example of how ambitious projects can be successfully realized through committed cooperation. This center provides space for up to 3,000 employees in an area of 150,000 square meters – a superlative project to which we at C + P also made a significant contribution.

A project of extraordinary dimensions
The Hermes Logistics Center marks a milestone not only for our customer, but also for us. With a total of 4,972 delivered cabinet solutions and a runtime of more than a year, this project was one of the most extensive in our recent company history. Particularly worthy of mention is the multitude of requirements that had to be taken into account: from lockers to special solutions for storing food, each solution was tailored precisely to the customer's needs.
Individual locker solutions for special requirements
The Polish Occupational Safety and Health Act requires a strict separation of clothing and food. Therefore, together with the customer, we decided on 370 three-compartment and 55 two-compartment Z Lockers from the “Basic” series in the wardrobe area. For the storage of food, we developed a specially adapted version of our “laptop cabinet”, which convinced with its comfortable compartment size and functionality. All cabinets were also equipped with modern electronic locks from BURG, which are operated by transponder card – an innovation for both the customer and our supplier.
Among other things, these fulfilled the requirement of compatibility with the RFID FOBs/MADA transponder cards from Hermes: Mifare DESFire EV3 8k. The BURG Corona II lock meets these and other customer requirements particularly well. In particular, this lock type is characterized by its ability to be used in highly dynamic environments. Thanks to its robust Zamak housing, it always provides a secure solution – with outstanding tear-off values (800N) and optimal resistance to intensive use. In addition, the impressive battery life of up to 45,000 cycles significantly reduces operating costs, which is a major advantage given the large number of cabinets.
The lock also met the customer's requirement for a private mode in which the lock automatically locks 20 seconds after unlocking. This is a significant convenience for the user, as the transponder does not have to be held to the lock knob again to lock the door. Simply closing the door automatically activates the latch function. Locking is signaled by flashing red LEDs, while green LEDs indicate opening. All locks were delivered in the same configuration.
Logistical challenges masterfully solved
The implementation of the project required not only precise planning and manufacturing, but also a logistical masterpiece. “In order not to interfere with ongoing operations, the deliveries had to be made with pinpoint precision and the assembly work had to be carried out primarily on weekends.” Transporting the cabinets to the first floor was particularly challenging, as there was no elevator and everything had to be done by hand. Installation on site took a total of 14 days – a testament to the complexity of this project.

A joint success
The successful completion of this project is the result of a cross-location and cross-border team effort. From the sales department to planning and production, to logistics and assembly, colleagues from Germany and Poland worked hand in hand. This project once again highlights our ability to meet complex customer requirements with a spirit of innovation and teamwork.
